It’s no secret that all of the movies that Marvel Comics have been producing are leading to The Avengers on the big screen.
But what’s cool is the way that they are going about it. So far we have seen
The Incredible Hulk rebooted with Edward Norton, the
Iron Man franchise has done better than anyone on the inside could have hoped with Robert Downey Jr. in the suit, and
Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and
Captain America (
Chris Evans) are in production right now.
All signs point to all four of them being onboard for The Avengers feature film when it comes to theaters in May of 2012.
There are also rumors that
Scarlett Johansson will reprise her role of Black Widow from Iron Man 2 and today I read that Nathan Fillion may be brought on board to play Dr. Henry “Hank” Pym/ Ant-Man and Eva Longoria may be cast to play Janet Van Dyne/ Wasp. So far those are all just rumored, but that would give The Avengers a huge cast for a huge movie.
Also signed on for the movie is
Samuel L. Jackson who will be playing Nick Fury, Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. as he has in the Marvel movies leading up to The Avengers.
Cult/Geek legend
Joss Whedon is directing the film as well as playing a part on the writing team which leads credibility to the Nathan Fillion rumors as the two of them worked together on Firefly and Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog.
There is a lot of time for news, rumors and leaks leading up to the start of production for The Avengers, and we will be here for all of it.
